Building a Habit That Survives a Bad Week
Motivation runs out. Systems do not.

Everyone starts motivated. The problem is that motivation is a feeling, and feelings come and go. The people who stay fit for decades are not more motivated than you. They have just built habits that keep going on the days motivation does not show up.
The goal is to make the healthy thing the easy, obvious, default thing, so you do it without having to talk yourself into it.
Shrink it until it is almost too easy
When life gets busy, do not aim for the perfect workout. Aim for the smallest version that still counts. A ten minute walk. One set. Putting your shoes on and stepping outside. The point is to not break the chain, because a tiny effort keeps the habit alive and a missed day starts to unravel it.
Two missed days in a row is the real danger. Miss once, fine. Just never miss twice.
Attach it to something you already do
Habits stick when you anchor them to an existing routine. Walk right after your morning coffee. Stretch while the kettle boils. Do your set before your evening shower. You are borrowing the reliability of a habit you already have.
Give it a few weeks. What feels like effort now will quietly turn into just something you do.
