Sleep Is the Training You Are Skipping

Training breaks your body down a little. Sleep is when it rebuilds itself stronger. Skip the sleep and you get the damage without the repair, which is why a week of bad nights can undo a lot of good work in the gym.

Poor sleep also messes with the hormones that control hunger, so it quietly makes you eat more and crave worse. If weight loss has stalled, your sleep is one of the first places worth looking.

A few things that genuinely help

Keep a roughly consistent bedtime, even on weekends. Your body runs on a rhythm and it likes regularity. Get some daylight early in the day, and dim the bright screens in the last hour before bed.

Keep the room cool and dark, and go easy on caffeine after the early afternoon. None of this is exciting, but it works, and it is free.
